Being Happy Is A Matter Of Practice

Being happy is the ultimate goal of life. A happy, resilient and optimistic life is good and good for your health. Happiness can actually protect you from the stresses of life. Stress has been linked to major causes of death such as heart disease, cancer and stroke.

What’s the secret to people who always seem happy? Not at all. They just have a way of turning negativity into positivity.

There are several ways you can begin to bring more happiness and less negativity into your life:

😀Take care of your body. Life is more optimistic when you eat well, exercise and get plenty of rest.

😀Be grateful. We have so many things to be thankful for. Thank the taxi driver for getting you home safe and thank the police for making sure the area you live in is safe. Stress and challenges don’t seem so scary when things in life are positive.

😀The stress of reading the news. Try to minimize reading the news. Some people can’t start a new day without reading the news. Try to think about the fact that 99% of the news we hear or read is bad news. Starting a new day with bad news doesn’t seem like a wise choice.

😀Express your feelings, emotions, friendships and passions to those around you. They are likely to reciprocate your actions. Try not to let angry emotions get you down, which is harmful to your health. Instead, find ways to express them in ways that don’t cause more harm or hurt anyone.

😀Hard work brings great personal satisfaction. It gives a sense of competence in accomplishing a task. Achievements are necessary for all of us and they give us a sense of worth. Deal with what you think is worthwhile.

😀Learning is a joyful exercise. Try to learn something new every day. Learning also allows us to expand and broaden our horizons. And it may also give us more opportunities in the future. Having knowledge is having more options so we can be more optimistic!

😀Don’t make assumptions. Don’t waste time worrying about what you’re doing wrong unless there’s evidence that there’s something to worry about.

😀Do not use absolute words. Thinking and speaking in absolutes way like “always” and “never” can make a situation appear worse than it is.

😀Think positively. If you are not able to judge things, your thoughts will be out of control. If you find yourself having negative thoughts, disengage them as soon as possible or try to shift your thoughts.

😀Get and give hugs to each other. Positive physical contact with a friend, loved one or even a pet is an immediate solution.

😀Increase your social activities. Social networks or relationships are vital to happiness. Spend time with healthy, happy people whose positive energy will affect you in a positive way!

😀Participate in a religious community. Being part of a religious community through singing, sacraments, chanting, prayer, and meditation can promote inner peace.

😀Be a volunteer. Everyone feels good after helping. You can invest your time, money or resources to help people in need. The more positive energy you put into the world, the more you get back.

😀Change your environment. Try changing your physical environment, take a walk or sitting outside. You could also call a friend, read a book or listen to some music. This can change your state of mind.

😀Running, jogging, walking and do some activities that make your body move. In this way, you at least look full of energy.

😀Laugh every day. Hear a good joke? Tell your friend or family member. Have you heard “Laughter is the best medicine”?

Always find ways to feel happy. This state of mind will bring you to a totally different life when you practice and aware of it by yourself. Dale Carnegie says that “It isn’t what you have or who you are or where you are or what you are doing that makes you happy or unhappy. It is what you think about it.”

Be happy!
